Choosing a new school is an important decision and we hope that the information provided in this prospectus will help you to understand more about life at Gosforth Central Middle and what our school can offer your child.
Education does not begin when children first come to school, nor does it end when they eventually leave their formal education behind. Although we are professionally trained and experienced as teachers and learning support assistants, we share with you the responsibility for your child’s learning and development.
From the moment they are born children begin to learn and by the time they come to the middle school they bring with them a wealth of knowledge and understanding, some of which they have gained from school but much of which comes from their homes and families. Consequently it is vital that we understand the partnership which must exist between home and school.
We will give your child the best education we can and in return we seek your co-operation. We need your support, with uniform, homework, the school behaviour code and school functions for example. We need your confidence and hope you will share with us any information you feel may affect your child’s work or behaviour in school. We will do our best to keep you informed about progress and achievements or difficulties, should they arise. We ask you to share any concerns or queries you may have, a phone call can often eliminate anxieties and we are happy to meet you to discuss aspects of your child’s work in school. We look forward to working together so we can maximise the benefits of education which must surely be an aim to which we would all subscribe.
