It's Young Carers Awareness Day on Thursday 30th January and to mark the occasion, there will be special assemblies over the next week to help the children learn what it is like to be a young carer and what support is available for them.
Young Carers are children and young people aged 5-18 years, who look after someone in their family who is ill, disabled, has mental health problems or are struggling with addiction to drugs or alcohol.
If you feel that you or someone in your family needs support with this issue please let us know.
Newcastle Carers are also a local organisation who provide support for carers of all ages. You can find lots of information about how they support adults, children and young people on their website: www.newcastlecarers.org.uk; on facebook/NewcastleCarers; Twitter: NCLCarers; Instagram: nclcarers.
